The play Les Escaliers, written by Radi, is a modern and tragic play that traces the contemporary society of Iran. After receiving three photos from an anonymous student, he wrote this piece to represent social injustice. In these three photos, we see, first of all, a poor man with worn clothes. In the second photo, the same man is next to a bicycle shop; and the third photo shows the man when he has become become very rich. Radi, looking at these three photos imagines the journey of the man and presents a named Bulbul, Nightingale, who would like to climb the social ladder by illegitimate ways to reach the top of wealth. By depicting the life of criminals, full of complexities, in a completely realistic form, Radi describes and criticizes the society before and after the revolution. This play in 5 acts is the image of the fall of humanity from a society. We describe, in the present descriptive-analytical study, according to Claude Duchet's concepts, how Radi manages, by means of a metaphorical and symbolic language, to demonstrate that people belonging to the lower strata of society have no choice but to seek wealth at all prices. Yet on this path, due to their frustrations, most become wolves ready to devour others while sacrificing all humanity and scruples.
