Abstract:
Today, tourism has become a large and growing industry in the world. The significant contribution of the tourism industry and the increasing dependence of economies on its income make a detailed analysis of the basic factors and trends of this industry necessary. Institutions are formal and informal norms that determine how people behave with each other, and political risk and institutional quality as institutions of a society can influence the tourism industry through tourism costs. In this study, the impact of institutional quality and political risk on tourism is investigated in the form of several developed attraction models, which have become a standard tool for the analysis of trade/tourism flows. Descriptive-analytical research method has been done using panel data and regression method. The statistical population includes the study of 19 MENA countries during the period from 2008 to 2019. The research results show that the effect of institutional quality and political risk on the development of tourism in MENA countries is positive and significant. Also, among several study gravity models, the quasi-rectified Poisson estimator method has the highest coefficient of determination and explanatory power.
