What are the advantages and disadvantages of currentclarifications about security developments of the Islamic Republic of I ran and what are the features of the alternative analytical framework'? The author focuses on some angles of the security development issues within the Islamic Republic oflran and highlights their stabilities and deficiencies in order to provide a comprehensive and concise analytical context depleted from the flaws of viewpoints which already exist. Security studies have slight historical hackgrounds in Iranian politics, so this issue is counted as comparatively a new discourse since the emergence of the Islamic Revolution, there have been various views towards national security and secured society in Iran, and different doctrines are formulated and theorized by scholars and researchers in this arena. The outcome of these scurvies can be classified within the four categories: )• expansion, maintenance, and growth-based discourse; 2-traditional• modern discourse; 3- containment, stabilization, and pluralistic pattern; 4- structural-echelon prospects each of which expands readers' understanding of some aspects of security developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

<8' The author of this book Valipour evaluates and analyzes national security concerns of the Islamic Republic of Iran in expansion-based, maintenance-based, and growth- based discourses, according to principles and objectives of Iranian national security, national security status, the level of threats and vulnerabilities and domestic security policies.
The author's evaluation of the general classification of the three prevalent discourses of this period is as follows: During the first twenty years of the emergence of the Islamic Republic of Iran, there was no ideological gap, hence, classifications based on expansion-based, maintenance-based, and growth-based discourses cannot provide an appropriate explanation for the developments of Iranian security policies.
He also believes that the traditional security discourse of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes on the following issues: the continuation of revolutionary principles and objectives; the ideological tradition of revolution; the cultural and value-based outlook towards security; the hardware military approach; the negligence of domestic and economic factors; the priority of the security of the state over that of the people and the transnational interpretation of security based on specific status of Islamic nations in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Tran.
