Introduction : Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) is a noninvasive method of imaging that measures the mechanical properties of tissues to provide additional information for differentiation of benign and malignant tumors.
Methods & Materials : This process typically involves the application of an external excitation to a tissue and measuring the resulting tissue motion with MRI and converting the motion into a stiffness distribution with a reconstruction algorithm. Dynamic shear test on simulated model can be use to validate magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) measurements. In this study, A brain 2D FE model with deviation of two different parts containing white and gray matter is created for determining the dynamic shear behavior of brain and their differences using ABAQUS with elastic homogeneous isotropic material.
Results : Results of this project show that in the two described domains of the brain (white and gray matter) due to small differences of elasticity and havinh a thin layer of gray matter, shear modules have very small differences also waveforms with near wavelengths accure.
Conclusion : It is obvious that these results make possible use of elastography method for detecting benign and malignant tumors with higher elasticity of tissue.
