The purpose of this study was to determine the short-term (1 session) and
long-term (36 sessions) effects of various exercise training (endurance,
sprint, and combined) on induction of pathological changes in the skeletal
muscles including congestion, “hemorrhage, edema, nuclei changes,
degeneration, Necrosis, infiltration of inflammatory cells and fibrosis. For
this reason, 40 young rats (3 month old years) were randomly divided into 4
equal groups (n=10 for each group) including control (without any training
program), endurance (training with 70-80 % Vo,max), sprint (training with
100 % of Vo,max), and combined group. Twenty four hours following the
1 and 36™ sessions of training, muscle samples were histopathologically
examined. Analyze of findings using K-W test showed that Following the 1*
session of exercise training, there was a significant increased in number and
activity of nuclei of muscular cells for all training groups (mild change).
After 36 sessions of training, significant increases in number and activity of
nuclei (in all trained groups, especially in sprint group), degeneration and
necrosis of muscular fibers and infiltration of inflammatory cells and fibrosis
were found in combined group when compared to control group. Overall,
results of this investigation (in regard to animal model and such protocols)
indicated that both short-term and long-term exercise training lead to several
muscular damages, and that these injuries are more severe in combined
group in comparison with others
