In the famous radical translation mental experiment, Willard Quine tries to defend some of his philosophical positions on meaning and reference. He has assumptions in drawing the initial conditions of this experiment, and these assumptions guide the direction of his arguments. Some of these assumptions are challenged in the interpretation of Donald Davidson's roots. Davidson borrows the initial context of the debate (using the mental experiment of translation / root interpretation) from Quine, but criticizes some of its initial assumptions. In Davidson's view, these assumptions make the work of root translation / interpretation impossible. This critical approach by Davidson leads to three major differences between the translation of Quinn's roots and the interpretation of Davidson's roots. These listable differences include (1) Quinn's approach; Which leads to the neurologicalization of translation and meaning, in contrast to Davidson-Davidson's view, (2) the acceptance or non-acceptance of propositional approaches and mental states, and (3) the difference in narratives carried correctly. Here we examine these differences.
