Flash floods The hydrologic response to the physiographic factors of the basin is a heavy rainfall event that causes financial and psychological damage. due to the complex nature of the flash flood, their prediction is very difficult and the physiographic features of the basins play an important role in their formation. The MFFPI model uses the physiographic indicators of the basins to assess the risk of a flash flood. the Islamabad Basin, due to the physiographic conditions and the occurrence of heavy rainfall, is prone to flash floods events, and over the past several decades, floods have caused extensive damage in the Islamabad area of the West and at the surface of the basin. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and categorize the risk of a flash flood of Islamabad watershed using MFFPI model. The results of the study showed that the final map of the potential risk of flash flood event in the first stage indicates that 45% of the area of the Islamabad sub-basin is located in a zone with a potential hazard. The spatial distribution of the five risk zones follows the topographical conditions and the accumulation of the flow of the basin. Using linear regression, identifies the effective parameters in the accumulation and accumulation of water.Four variables of topographic slope, flow accumulation, domain curvature, and land use explains 96.6% of the flood potential index. The removal of soil texture parameters and rock permeability in the second stage reduced the area of high risk areas and increased the area of low and middle areas.Regions with a high potential of high altitudes and margins that were not consistent with reality were eliminated. The results of the MFFPI model in both of the two stages indicate a high risk of the flash flood in the plains of Islamabad, in the west and the city and all villages and its surface infrastructure are in danger of the flash flood.
