The relationship between ethics and religion has long been the subject of philosophical and theological discussions. In recent years, the idea that the incompatibility of morality and religion is real, has been proposed in various ways and has gained supporters. Some people reject religion for the benefit of ethics, and others discredit ethics and strengthen the side of religion. In this article, the point of view of one of the supporters of the recent approach, which was represented in the mass media, has been analyzed and criticized. The main idea is to replace piety with morality. After examining the various dimensions of this idea, some of its most important shortcomings have been pointed out. These shortcomings are as follows: basing the idea on an inadequate understanding of ethics, ignoring the themes of Quran and Shiite scriptures regarding the special place of ethics in religion, ignoring the logical requirements of discrediting connate and pre-religion ethics. The conclusion of this article is that emphasizing the incompatibility of morality and religion and proposing to replace piety with morality is not only indefensible from a religious point of view, but ultimately it will not benefit the religiosity of the youth.
