Kurdish is one of the Indo-European-Hindu-Iranian languages and includes various
dialects, the most important of which are "Kermanji-Sorani-Zazaei-Kalhori-Horami".
Kurdish literature, like all literatures, is divided into two categories: oral literature and
written literature. The first part is that it is narrated which is the same as folklore and
its narrator is not known and it is considered as part of the heritage of nations and their
memory and the second part, which is attributed to the speaker and the author. Oral
literature is very rich among the Kurds and many Orientalists have tried to collect
Kurdish oral literature. Most Kurdish literature is poetry, and writing tends to be
consistent and adherent, and poetry to composing. Kurdish language historians have
stated that this literature is in the Gorani dialect of "Horami" in Sanandaj, the capital of
the Ardalan government in Iranian Kurdistan, and in the Babani dialect of "Sorani" in
Sulaimaniyah and Koi in the Baban UAE, and in Kermanji in the cities of Bayazid,
Hakkari and Bhutan originated in Turkish Kurdistan, and this research tries to
introduce Kurdish literature and language to others through poetry and poets and is
based on descriptive-analytical method and it clarified this is because Kurdish was not
the official language of the government most Kurdish writers have written Arabic
poetry and written in Arabic especially after Islam, because Arabic was the language of
the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet and for another reason that it has been both
the language of religion and the rule of Islam and the language of science Therefore,
they wanted their works to be introduced to the society sooner and for them to be
known, or many of them have been written in Kurdish and their works have been
translated into Arabic and Persian. And for these reasons, we see the influence between
the Arabic language and the Kurdish language, and it is clear that the Kurds have done
a lot of service to Islam and the Arabic language. Kurdish poetry is its present
language and is like a historical container in which everything that happened to the
Kurdish nation exists in the form of events and stories. And poetry is rooted in Kurdish
history, and a large part of Kurdish poetry is based on myths and stories in the form of
oral literature and has expressed the descriptions of its heroes and moral values and is
included in them. That is why poetry is the most important linguistic tool for Kurdish
history and culture.
