For instance in the last meeting of the "[Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council", the six member states stressed befriending Iran, this is in itself a self-enlightened move by the GCC.
These latter three countries are quite different than Saudi Arabia whose economic clout and influence on her Arab brethren has given it the confidence to be a pacesetter, as at present in pioneering in bringing Iran back within the fold of the Persian Gulf littoral states.
Iran is going through a process of establishing a civil society that will spell positive results for her relations with the Arab world in general and the Persian Gulf states in particular.
(161 Lastly setting up of CBMs can contribute greatly to detente between Iran and Arab states of the Persian Gulf.
Yet the only way to guarantee a reduction of tensions and promote genuine detente, and cooperation in the Persian Gulf area is to create fundamental changes in how Iranians and Arabs of the region view each other.
