The purpose of this research was to compare the motivation, metacognition and regulation of mathematical
emotion in balanced and normal math anxiety students. The research method is applied and in terms of data
collection, it is comparative. The statistical population included 580 fifth grade female students of Nahavand
normal schools in the academic year of 2001-2001 using the full number sampling method. Using the math
anxiety scale, students were screened and based on the cut score of this scale, 142 students who scored the
lowest and highest scores were divided into two equal groups with math anxiety and normal. The main tools of
this research were children's mathematical emotion regulation scale (Hanin et al., 2017), Kurter's mathematical
motivation (2005), Panora and Filippo's mathematical metacognition (2007), and diagnostic tools including Chiu
and Henry's (1990) children's math anxiety, Tabrabazi's math disorder scale, and Raven's progressive matrix
(1938). The data were analyzed with MANOVA statistical methods and independent t-test in SPSS software.
The results showed that the group with math anxiety scored lower in all three variables, and the two groups did
not have a significant difference in the motivation component in the dimension of metacognition and helpseeking
and maintaining attention and concentration in the emotion regulation scale. In general, due to the
importance of metacognitive, motivational and emotional variables in students' math anxiety, training in this
field is necessary
